Pastor's Message About Offering Stipends/Honorariums
Sometimes people ask how much does a Mass cost?
The value of the Mass is so profound that there is no price in the
world that could pay for it. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is
priceless. However, people usually give a stipend of five dollars to
have a Mass said. There really is no price for Masses or Sacraments. A
stipened or honorarium is an offering given for the support of the
Church. As mentioned above, the usual offering for a Mass is five
dollars.
A suggested offering for other Liturgies is just that, a suggested
offering. You may not be able to give that much or you may prefer to
offer more. In any case it goes to the support of the Church. Suggested
offerings are as follows:
- Baptism - $50
- Weddings - $200
- Funerals - $225
Note: Funeral offerings are usually covered by the Funeral Director and from that offering we pay the Organist.
Small votive lights are 50 cents and large votive lights are $3.
